Summer Cohort Meetings
Summer 2020
Due to the pandemic, we began holding our monthly cohort meetings and workshops over Zoom. Though this was obviously not ideal, there were definitely some perks to meeting online - we could connect with each other regardless of location, whether we were in Austin, somewhere else in Texas, or even in a different country.
Some different activities we did during our summer cohort meetings included a joy scavenger hunt using Padlet, a Nearpod tutorial from Dr. Ariel Taylor, discussing how to make Maker activities work virtually, and a sensory name swap. We also did a lot of connecting and processing together, discussing how we felt about teaching and learning during COVID-19, sharing ideas and suggestions with each other, and discussing the different things we’d all made at home with all of our newfound free time.

With all of my free time at home during the summer, aside from taking Number Theory, I was able to spend quite a bit of time creating. My parents also gifted me a Cricut Maker for my 21st birthday, which allowed me to try a lot of new things. I was able to dabble in computerized drawing, digital drawing, paper crafts, vinyl cutting, and even woodworking.
